We had a good time at Silver Street Poetry this afternoon and a good turnout of old friends and new. I’ve been coming to this event for some years now, and many of the poems in the collection had their first airing there so it was very fitting that this was the first reading after the Lincoln launch, and was also an opportunity to thank Colin Brown and Deborah Harvey of The Leaping Word ,who host the event, for their help and support.
We started with an open mic session (among the many offering’s was Cathy’s about looking for otters, and Pat’s speculative grammar of cosmology and physics). I did ten minutes from The Ladies and Gentlemen of the Dead, and then we broke to sell books, in which I was ably assisted by Chris on counting and handling small change. There was another ten minutes of me and then more quality open mic.
It’s always a very warm and encouraging event, and especially for me today. So many thanks everyone. And if you couldn’t make it – same time first Friday of every month. And don’t forget the Bristol launch on 24th All the best and see you there.
